Hey all!! I am trying to gather some information on my recently acquired custom 6. It starts, and runs (once it gets started) it almost feels like it needs a primer button any tips? I am also curious about the mower deck, it's an alumanium deck, wondering what fluid/grease goes in the gear boxes? I lubed all the fittings, I want to work out all the bugs and then break it down and refurbish it. Any tips? Thanks...Edward

The first thing I would do with it is perform a total cleaning of the fuel system. Start at the gas tank, inspect for crud and floating debris. Clean if necessary. Replace the fuel line between the tank and carb. Put a fuel filter inline. Clean the carb with carb cleaner. Check to see if there is a rebuild kit available still. If not, get the Tecumseh part number and put it in an ebay search. You may be surprised. I have been many times. Good luck!

You might want to check and see if when the throttle is pushed up to choke that the choke is actually closing,if not its adjustable, I have a carb fron a 7HP that has a seperate choke like whats on the custom 7s on up that I will be putting on my custom 6 since I like the seperate choke alot better.
