Transmissions????

Hello everyone, I am new to this Fourm..I have 7 Sears Suburbins From 67 to around 76 .. I want to know if there is any differences in transmissions (not Hydrostic type) I have a near mint 67 that the shifter goes right to left in all 3 positions, its like you have neutral on top middle and bottom.. well I was thinking to pull the trans ont of a newer SS/16 and put it in the SS/12 any one have any ideas??
