Can anyone help me identify my tractor before I start getting parts for it? The Model # is 502.25900 and here are a couple pic's. What year is it and what do you call it? Thanks

Your tractor is the entry level garden tractor sold by Sears in 1976. It was made by the Murray Ohio Company. I believe they came from the factory with a B&S 8hp engine. There was a 10hp version also, but it had headlights. The tractor was targeted at the buyers who had previously purchased the Custom series of tractors.

No, it is not a Suburban. It will however accept a three point hitch for ground engaging work. It takes a different mowing deck than a Suburban and will not accept any attachment that is designed to slide into the front of a Suburban frame. You will have better luck finding engine parts for it than you would a Suburban, that is if the standard B&S engine is still there.

That looks like a neat tractor! What parts do you need?

Thanks for the info! It does indeed have the B&S 8 hp still in it so thats good news. I have one question for you though, did Murray have a plant in Lawrenceburg TN? The plate with the serial and date of MFG says it was assembled there. I just need a belt because the one it has is too tight, a carb rebuild kit and some chains to get it snow ready. Thanks again for the info. Derick

Tire Chains:

My preference for tire chains is the V type. They give a much better grip, but are hard to come by sometimes. I was fortunate to find a pair that they used to use on car tires. They will scar up pavement or concrete though.

BTW: The two accessories you already have for your tractor are the hardest things that you would have to find if starting over again. You're lucky to have these. The three point hitch is pretty easy to find, and attachments for that are common still.

Thanks again for the help, it looks like it will be easier than I thought to get what I need for it. I will have to retire my old 68 Simplicity now and step up to this ST/8 Laughing the deck is a a few inches wider on the ST/8 and I dont have a plow for the Simplicity. Thanks again
