Sears Suburban electrical conversion

Post  dvmindy on January 24th 2009, 9:18 pm

I have 1970 Sears Suburban with a 12 hp Tecumseh on it. I recently found a block from a local lawn mower shop. The block is sbh - 187A. Does anyone know where I can find the specs for this block? I was told it is a 12 hp. It has all the other equipment from a 10 hp model number 143.649012 including the electrical components. Does anyone know which tractor this engine came off of so I can get a manual for it? I specifically need the specs for the electrical components on the tractor that went with this engine. My tractor originally had the starter-generator. This new engine has the new flywheel and starter so I have to convert the electrical over. I am trying to find a wiring diagram and specs so I know which rectifier/regulator and key switch to use, etc...
Thanks,
Jim
