STARTERS, WHO MAKES THE BEST REPLACEMENT? Empty STARTERS, WHO MAKES THE BEST REPLACEMENT?

Post  JWB November 18th 2012, 11:25 am

I need to replace the starter on my tecumseh oh 180. I can find them online for prices ranging from$75.00 up to almost $200.00. All say they fit my engine. Can someone give me some advice on what I need on my engine. I need good cranking power and don't want to waste my money.

Have you considered having your old original rebuilt?

I have a place nearby that rebuilds AC electric motors and I've had automotive stuff redone in the past. That way you know what you have and it likely won't cost a lot more than a replacement of questionable quality. I'm just east of St Paul, did a short search online and found at least five places locally that could do it. Try it in your own area and see what you get. I'm sure they would at least give you a ball park estimate over the phone.
