WIRING A MODERN MOTOR TO AN OLDER TRACTOR Empty WIRING A MODERN MOTOR TO AN OLDER TRACTOR

Post  donpadow March 13th 2010, 12:02 pm

I have successfully installed a 10 hp Briggs and Stratton motor in my tractor. The motor is an Industrial Plus 10 hp, model 221437, type 4045-01, code 9401271 B. It has an electric starter/generator. My problem is that I need to install a voltage regulator to a tractor that did not have one. Can anyone be of help? Drawing & schematics would be appreciated.

I just joined this message board and noticed your post from a few months back. If you have not resolved your situation I could give you some advice. Let me know!

WIRING A MODERN MOTOR TO AN OLDER TRACTOR Empty None

I am still working on it. I have determined that one of the two pins on the alternator output connector puts out REGULATED 13.4 VDC THROUGH ONE PIN AND 24 VAC THROUGH BOTH PINS. Please feel free to contact me directly at donparadowski@yahoo.com

WIRING A MODERN MOTOR TO AN OLDER TRACTOR Empty Voltage regulator wiring.

Post  Subbie June 29th 2012, 5:59 am

A wiring diagram for a late 60's Suburban 12 which uses a MG would give you the proper wiring. The regulator has to be a 4 post type, My tractor .co has information on the Suburban section. There is a source for the regulators, for about $24.00 with the shipping which is cheap. Why use a motor generator combination?
