Trying to figure out a mower deck

Hey,

I just bought a farm fresh mower deck and mule drive. It needs work but will be okay with a little attention. It's a triple blade and I think its a 48" deck. The model number on it is a 917.253380. I'm trying to dig up some information on this, hopefully a manual. I searched around the manuals which this site has links to and searched the Internet at large but couldn't find much for this particular unit. I'm hoping someone on here might know where I could find a manual or has the same deck and might know the V Belt and Drive Belt sizes.

I found some data on searspartsdirect.com They do have some parts for the deck and the belt is either a 6942r (87" x 1/2") or a 6943r (92" x 1/2"). Since this mower deck came in two versions (42" and 48"), would the longer 92" be for the 48" deck? Hopefully someone out there has one and will know.

Here's a site for a lot of sears manuals. Just scroll down left side to either tractors or attachments, then find what you need...if it's there. I didn't see yours on the list, but from your 917.xxxx80, I'm betting you have the 42" deck. Measure your blades. If the blades are 14 9/16 inch I think, you have 42" deck, if they measure right at 16", then you have the 48". The 87" is for the 42, the 92" is for the 48. The engine to deck belt should be around 101 or 103, can't remember exact.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check out the web site. I spoke to a person at sears and they said the 48" deck took the 92" belt....so I just ordered one.

I am looking at a manual for a 917.253580 sears deck. Since 5's and 3's are close in some fonts, you might check your number. the "80" on the end denotes a 42" deck. The internal belt is a 6942R, the mower to tractor belt is a 6941R and the blades are 9480R. This site has a handy belt conversion chart that allows you to get the exact dimensions of the sears belt and purchase it at your local industrial supply store for 1/3 the price.
If your mower deck is the 253580, you will probably find the manual on ebay or similar sites.
