Greetings Suburban experts!  I have a 68 Suburban 12.  After adding a new Ed Stollar system, this old girl is up and running.  I was experiencing grinding when going into any gear.  pulled the manual, adjusted to correct that.  Now the belt wants to jump under a actuating rod? on the right side.  i put it over the stub goes fine, after moving foot pedal a few time it jumps back under creating belt burn.  Not sure how to fix this?  is this a belt to big issue, as everything appears tight!  please advice if anyone knows!  thanks E

trying to add pics  will investigate further.  thanks!

admin says can"t add pics for 7 days as new member. any problem solving apreciated, as i can send pics via e-mail if my ? doesn't make sense!

hi HD, be glad to throw in my three cents worth. the drive belt should be a 5/8"x 81". belt should stop moving (loose enough to slip on the drive pulley)with the clutch pushed in , this will solve the gear grinding when shifting. are all the belt guards in place ? is the spring strong enough when the clutch is let out to hold good tension on the belt ? the stub you are asking about ,does it have to do with the connecting rod that acually makes the clutch pulley pivot ? if so that should extend well past the backside width of the belt . i believe this was to be a cheap belt brake to help the belt stop moving when shifting. don't know if this helps at all, please reply with your findings , don't want to give misleading or bad advise. would like to know more about the ed stoller set-up you put on after you get this problem solved. /// tim
