i have a 68 ss12 in all orignal perfect condition, with the exception of the brown nasty goop that came out the transaxle during its first service in 40 some years.. what is the best thing to do to clean this out,,are there any products i can poor in to clean it..i really dont want to dissamble it it still functions perfectly

ss12 got a couple cents left for this one too. may put a couple quart diesel fuel / kerosene jack it up and free hand turn each tire to spin the gears drain and refill. never have done this just a thought. might be best just to refill with straight 30 weight motor oil i think capacity is around 5 quarts, normal use time and drain and see what it looks and feels like (gritty dirty water) then refill and repeat until you find a desired oil condition. again just a thought > tim

Kerosene was the trick. I drained and recipes rwice with kerosene and now my oil looks as it did new so that's a good tip there

I was thinking. How much is involved in making this transaxle full locking. This machine is only for pulling its a ss16

12 , never had to tear one down , might try IM'ing GEORGIA SS / JIMMY tell him what your plans and intentions are and ask if its possible or his thoughts or ideas on how to do a full locker > tim
