is there any way to tell the model yr of a suburban 10 by the model #'s on the deck? i know it's the original, and the model/shift plate has been removed before i got it. i looked at the pic section and as far as i can tell it's a 67, but not sure. deck model is 917.60655. thanks. Sad

Two major things seem to have changed between '66 and '67. The older, square fenders were changed to a more rounded style and the color was changed from blue to orange.

The model number of the deck you provided is for the older style deck that was hooked to the front axle. That would be the correct style deck for that model year.

Of course model years with Sears/Roper were sometimes a hard thing to nail down, but I think that's about right. :-)

If there's something to burn in the cylinder and you have spark, then it should be firing.

Two things come to mind immediately: Ignition timing and mechanical condition of the engine.
