Starter

Post  shawn on May 13th 2009, 4:29 pm

I have a custom 6 with it still has all original parts as far as I can tell. The starter has a dead spot I can get past it by grabing the belt and moving it forward an inch or so. My question is does anyone know if I can get a new one and if so who the manufacurer is and what the part number is? If not there is still a place here that rebuilds starters I'm sure they can work on it. I just bought this thing and love it! I use it to mow my 2 acres and it does a great job. I plan on restoring it this winter but still using it to mow the lawn.

I don't know where you are but you could try "White Springs Repair" at 570-966-9241. I got one there about 4 years ago. I don't remember, but they may have rebuilt the one I had. It was about $115.

You might spend more than you anticipate rebuilding that starter/generator. If you keep your eyes open at the flea markets and tractor shows in the area you probably will come up with one in good working condition.
