Transmissions????

Hello Everyone...
I am glad I found other that are in to these Suburban tractors, I have 7 of these things ranging from 67 to 76...
my question is :: I have a near mint 68 SS/12 the trans shift lever does the neutral thing in all 3 positions, top middle and bottom.. I pull the trans last night .. I have a newer SS/16 that I have been using for parts, is there any differences?? or is there an easy fix to the neurtral thing??

The transmission cases look identical and all the bolts will fit. Inside, the SS16 gears are about 50% heavier, so I'd say you are good to go. I replaced the 12hp engine in my ST12 with an 18 and the original transmission did NOT like that. I switched to the tranny out of an ST16 and all has been well for many years.
