What size battery for ST16

I recently had a '74 Suburban ST16 given to me. It has no battery and I have no idea what size battery to get. Does anyone have any suggestions on size for this?

Sears no longer has that battery available and, of course, it's a special size. I use a generic lawn tractor battery but they are borderline on power. I have to roll the engine backwards against compression in order to have the starter turn the engine fast enouigh to get it over compression going the other way. This has worked for years.

You say they are borderline on power, how many cranking amps does the battery you use have so I can look for something a bit higher maybe?

Why not just measure the battery tray, go to an auto parts store and find one that fits. Once you find one that physically fits, select the battery with the largest cranking amps you're willing to spend the money on.

Ther is not enough headroom under the hood for an automotive battery.
