CARB HELP
My 12 HP tec idles great but when I increase the throttle, it dies. I have adjusted both screws and can not get it to speed up. I know my carb is like new. I can get it to about a fourth speed, little faster than idle and it dies out.

Re: CARB HELP
The idle circuit is free, so you are getting proper idle. I suspect something is blocking a passage in the main circuit. Suggest you disassemble and clean the entire carb, using care not to remove the main if you have an old style assembly. Today's gasoline mixture is not friendly to our old engines, so even through your carb is like new, there may still be gasoline related issues.
Here is a link to a good article on carburetor function. It is for motorcycles, but the theories (most that is....not the enricher) apply to the carbs we have in small engines.

Good luck and post questions that you may have.

CARB HELP
Thanks Spence. After reading the article you suggested, I think I know now what the problem is. I replaced my original carb with a new one someone said wold work on my tec 12. I noticed that the bowl was smaller than the original. I think this carb is not giving me enough fuel to speed up my motor.
Do you think I can adjust the float so that it will shut the inlet valve later to allow more fuel or drill the orfice larger? I ordered the exact carb I was led to believe would work. Someone on this site gave me the information.
I have tried to go back and find the individual to ask if they did the above but I cant find the person.
I really appreciate your help.
