Sears super 12

Just bought a sears super 12 tractor 917-25311, but some gas in carb, fired up, but it kills batterys after 30 seconds of crank time, the voltage regulator is in pretty bad shape its is supposedly a 606a190, but i cant find one, where can i get one?

try NAPA auto take the old one in they should be able to match it. have you checked whether it is charging or not . a simple voltmeter reading from the battery while its running will tell if the generator is producing enough voltage. the amp gauge should move a little positive . the last one i had rebuilt put out 5 amps , the rebuilder said that was about it for the style generator it is . so on a 30 amp gauge you will not see much movement . another note you may have to have it checked possibly auto zone ask around first before the trouble of taking it off .
