valve plate assembly ss/16 twin questions

Hey all, when replacing a bad fuel line I broke the nozzle on the fuel pump valve plate assembly. Does anyone know if it can be drilled out and fixed/sealed? the rebuild kit is $159.86 and the gaskets are $55.20 so just to repair it without labor is a cool $230 or so. Before I waste my time trying to fix it I was hoping to get some feedback.

my parts tractor has the nipple on the valve assembly for the fuel pump cap broken off. can I cap that one somehow and use the bottom nipple for fuel which is still intact? can one use "make a gasket for these carbs instead of buying the $55 kit? trying to save a few and get this running, I'm on disability so every penny really counts.
