1974 st16 fuel pump or not?

I have a st16 that someone give me,I went on the searpartsdirect.com and looked up my number, a fuel pump is listed in the diagram and it is not on the tractor now( not running right now), I was wondering if someone have one with out the fuel pump and running, I have to get a new carb seal for the bowl and will not know if it runs or not until then. I thought it could be a 1973 (sears site states it is a 1974 diagram).

I have a ST16 that I removed the fuel pump from and it runs great, My gas tank is under the hood, it won't work if your tank is under the seat.

Mine is also on the top of the engine, so I guess it will be fine.
